Total conversion mod for RE2

Resident Evil REVisited Mod is a free-to-play mod for CAPCOM’s Resident Evil 2 (RE2). In this custom retelling from Team REVisited, you play as Trent, an Umbrella agent sent to assess the Arklay Facility. Fans of the franchise would immediately know this as the location of the infamous Mansion Incident, making this fanmade work an unofficial spinoff of sorts.

As an Umbrella agent instead of being a STARS officer, Resident Evil REVisited Mod adds content that offers a different adventure, although it’s far from completion. You can further explore the long-running franchise with Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil 7.

Revisit the Arklay Facility

In Resident Evil REVisited Mod, you play as Trent from Umbrella Corporation. Interestingly enough, there is already a character with the same name in the franchise. Trent is the name of a man formerly known as Victor Darius, who acts as the archetypical mastermind across the franchise. Players should be aware that since the mod is in the demo stages, the game remains largely incomplete.

Next is that the mod was created for the Windows port of the original RE2, and not for the 2019 remake. With that said, this total conversion mod does a great job of almost creating a new game using the dated engine. Expect clunky animation, low-poly character models, and even a sound effect that perfectly captures games from the late 90s to early 2000s.

Additionally, the game even introduces a number of new locations and nonplayable characters (NPCs). It expands the worldbuilding for the RE franchise in general, and lends more credence to this mod as a spinoff, although being fanmade. Also, considering the original game it was based on, it’s played better with a gamepad or a controller instead of the usual keyboard and mouse.

A reason to check out old RE games

With the RE: Village now released, checking out Resident Evil REVisited Mod gives players incentive not only to load their old RE2 copies but also to check out the older titles in the entire franchise. With its authentic retro feel combined with a detailed and customized world, you get a believable entry to the franchise. The game is far from completion, but it’s still a must-try experience.
